I am very new to doing outdoor festivals, Cherry Creek was my 6th....last year was perfect weather but this year seems to be a bit of a different story....Brookside was filled with horribly hot/humid weather followed by massive thunder/lightning storms and Cherry Creek started off beautiful, a little warm on Friday but nothing compared to the 100 degree weather we all had the week before (or for you guys in NE, were still having)...we had some afternoon rain which cleared the festival by 5pm (show goes til 8pm on friday and saturday)....
Booth set up and ready to go!!!
The day driving up to the festival and the night before CVO and I had food poisoning which lead to lack of sleep, lots of bathroom and bonding time and the loss of about 5 lbs....so was nice to come back to the hotel after the first day and chill....we had a good first day of the festival with lots of positive feed back so we were looking forward to sunshine and lots of people for Saturday...
I was super excited for Saturday am, not only cause I felt a ton better but also because the local channel 7 news was going to interview me about my work....my interview was about a minute and half long and for the rest of the day people said they had seen my interview...thanks Maureen, Channel 7 and Cherry Creek for the press, my pink hair also made it easier to recognize me....
Saturday's weather was perfect, a beautiful morning, lot's of people out looking at art, then it hit, rain, wind, lightning, bout 4pm the festival was under water, so we backed up, headed back to the hotel for food, movie and the hopes that the last day would be filled with no rain and lots of sales....
Sunday we woke to more rain and drizzle but it cleared to a day filled with sunshine and very cool weather....
Over all people really loved my work, I had a great response, good sales, met a bunch of great people, got to hang with some awesome artists...Thanks again to everyone who came out to suppose the arts, my kickstarter backers and everyone I met this weekend....
Next on the agenda, finish jewelry for kickstarter backers, deliver everything and get ready for Telluride which is in August, keep your fingers crossed that there won't be any rain, heat, snow, earthquake, avalanche, tornado or anything else mother nature has to offer....
Oh and for fun here is a video that a fellow pirate made, it's Branched Oak (one of our favorite places to ride our MTB (mountain bikes))
