Let's face it Lincoln's no NYC but for some reason there are plenty of guys willing to dress up as chicks here (Malcolm) and Linda Richman's style of interviewing is...well...let's just say she has a little more meshugenerness to her than Lance (meshugenerness is to a word, we just added some flare, don't believe us...well you can go a maidel mit a vayndel)...hopefully this interview is as entertaining...Okay maybe not as entertaining but regardless we hope that you tune in...hopefully all of Casey's verklempting was edited out (right Lance?!?)

I'm training for the Dirty Kanza http://www.dirtykanza200.com/ gravel bike race which is 200 miles of flint hills gravel...so I've been riding out in the evil evil winter of nebraska...has not been fun, I'm ready for spring!!!!

Speaking of making the impossible possible...I stumbled upon this great video...it empowers the message that I've incorporated into not only my business but life...Ingrid Vendervelt is helping to empower women and the world...

Now a moment in Handcrafted time...today we are talking recycling metal...I save all my scrap metal to melt down and pour into new...

This is a long process and takes patients...

the first step is to melt the scrap in a crucible...

 

Pour into the ingut (mold) either for wire or sheet, we are making bars for cufflinks so will pour into wire section...

 

 Now the fun begins...rolling the metal to a smaller gauge...

 Since you have to anneal the metal (the metal work hardens as you roll it so you have to heat up the metal to soften it again so it won't break) after every few rolls this can take a while...

Finished cufflinks... 

I would love to say that I create all my work with metal that I produce but I do what I can, all the cufflinks centers are always recycled metal...I buy stock sheet metal and wire from Rio Grande...these products are made in the USA...

My impossible that I'm gonna make possible...getting my jewelry and wearable art in the music scene...

"2012-2013: Reflections"

  Okay kiddies...It's Casey Time..so get your fingers outta your nose, Nancy leave Mr. T be and who's ready to learn all there is about all that was...or something like that...

Well the end to 2012 was great...had a great holiday season with the company and with the family...

Cuz and family came up from Texas just in time to be santa's helper and hand out gifts...

Thanks to Momma...she gave me this pair..gonna enjoy some hotness outta these guys...

Got to spend some awesome time with my Bro while he was back...we went North to Decorah Iowa to hang with our Fam there...was a blast and was freezing!!! India loves her pal Aaron....

 

 

Learned a new sport...cross country skiing...really dig this and wow what a work out!!! Just need some more snow, this 40 degrees week is killing the snow...never thought I'd say bring on the snow but BRING ON THE SNOW!!!

 

 

After saying farewell to 2012 and HELLO 2013...I got to brainstorming....I decided that 2013 will be filled with making things happen...impossible things especially...I love the idea of visualizing something that hasn't happened and even impossible such as CSD being a million dollar company, Casey Sheppard being a world renown craftsmen, landing a gap jump on my karate monkey (any jump at that)...it makes me all gitty inside...also what a great idea, if we all thought of one impossible thing and try and make it true (all good things no bad here) what an idea....

 

 

Another focus for 2013 is that I want to educate my clients and others on taking pride in handcrafted products...I feel that there is a serious lack of respect for a quality handcrafted item...I feel that so many want fast, cheap, now and look where we are...and again, like the impossible idea, if we all do just a little, what a huge change...Okay I'm off my soap box...I'm gonna give it back to the professionals...Look forward to the next Casey Time...please email if you have any suggestions or questions, would love to hear from you.....

What a Splendor.....

Well folks, that's right, it's that time of year again where we hurry to find presents, not the perfect one...to late for that..just be happy to find A present for everyone, then we gather together eatting, drinking and if we can't be merry then we drink more and eat more, indulge in sorrows, urrr sorry festivities of the season....

Speaking of loving...the debut of CSD Men's Jewelry Line was a great success...all the cufflinks sold (more is coming your way PS) and was a great turn out...thank you all who came out and to Jennifer, Joel, Chris, Mary and everyone else at the gallery...

Finally, after many many requests she has done it!!! Cufflinks...these are the new ones that are in route to PS Gallery...more are in the works and rumor has it that Casey is reponsible for bringing back the french cuff!!!

Winter is here (well it feels like spring but is suppose to be winter)...this lady has a lot to do this winter season, like make jewelry, make jewelry, make jewelry, ride her bike, chill with the dog, hang with friends and a gazillion other things...

man I do have to say the peeps in East Lansing are HUGE art supporters and community...Casey was so impressed with not only how many people came out to see her new work but how many came because they had meet her at the East Lansing Arts Festival in 2011 (Where CSD won best of show)...Thanks to Tom and Linda for such great hospitality and to all the others Casey got to hang out with especially Diane, Jenine, Kim and Ed...

 

 Bike ride to SOFA show in Chicago...Casey got to check it out on the way to Michigan...

 

 Way bigger than the NYC SOFA...gotta check this out, CSD is making this one an annual event....(if time allows)...

 

So Casey stopped in Des Moines and before having lunch with Stephen King from the Des Moines Arts Fesitval http://desmoinesartsfestival.org/ (who showed Casey what a killer art city Des Moines is, who knew...) she road Banner Lake...nothing like road trip, art and bike rides...

 

 Another super rad trail...Potawatomi Trail in Michigan, it's 17 miles of super flowy, fast, LOTS of roots and fun singletrack...for us midwesterners with short trails this is a trail to be envious of...will be back FOR SURE....

 

 Ending her trip with lunch in Ann Arbor with Mo Riley from the Ann Arbor Street Art Fair http://www.artfair.org/...I got a great tour of this small, funky and really community town...
