East Lansing Arts Festival

The East Lansing Arts Festival

The Show was amazing, over 200 artists from all over, great bands on two stages, delicious food, perfect weather and great sales.

I met so many amazing people, so friendly....my new friend Engineer Ron gave me a miniature drill press, Denise gave me great booth tips, Lynne and I talked bout our pets and the craft world...Was great!!!!

The best part of the show (besides meeting new fascinating people) is that I won "Best in Show/Galleries"....Blue ribbon, cash prize and the recognition of my hard work, lack of sleep and gives me more confidence that I'm 'Doing what I do'....Thanks East Lansing!!!!  See ya next year!!!!

I'm getting ready for The Uptown Festival in Minneapolis, the first weekend in August...I'll have my booth number soon and look forward to meeting new people and hanging with old friends....

Just got back from our trip to Seattle!  Wow what an amazing city!  The show was fantastic, met so many crazy artistic and fun people!  We are coming back in November for the fall show and can't wait!!!
View from the roof of our hotel, the Mediterranean, great hotel everyone was super friendly and amazing!!

Setting up the booth on Friday, looks like CVO is working harder than me, he knows we are going for beers at Ozzies after.....

The big day!!!  We meet so many amazing people, thanks to everyone for your kind words and support!

For a little fun!!!  At the Pink Door, where Tamara preformed over our tables! Luke took great care of us at the bar, Lumia was a great server and the owner bought us dessert!  I love Seattle!!!

Thanks to Lumia I had one of the best dinners, Rabbit!!!  Yummy!!!!

Booth Time

My living/dining room has turned into a construction zone!  PVC and plywood all coming together to make my booth!!!  Things went better than I planned, here's a photo of the beginning process!  One table down and 5 more to go!!!!

Now that all the tables are built I have to take photos of my booth set up!  Most festival applications require a booth shot, since I've only done one festival I do not have any good photos (they really suck)!!!  But since it was the middle of winter and I needed a new booth photo I couldn't set things up outside (-10 below, wind and 2 feet of snow).  This is why I set up the tent inside the house....so glad I live in an old house with a super tall celling!!!)  With the help of the flu infected CVO and myself (who was about to be infected, which was a ton of fun!!!) we put up the tent and walls, set up the tables and lights....photo time!!!

Here's the photo that I've been using for my applications!  It's helped me to get into two shows so far!!!  The first is "The Best of the Northwest" which is in Seattle Washington March 26 and 27 and the other is "East Lansing Arts Festival" in East Lansing Michigan on May 21 and 22.  Waiting to hear from a few more but I'm very excited!  Long road trip to Seattle in the next two weeks, will take plenty of photos!  Very exciting!  Now I have to get to work, so much to do and so little time!!!

New Year, New Work, New Goals!!!

After a crazy holiday season, was really insane!!!  I ended up with an evil evil cold that started the day before NYE (thanks) and is still lingering!  But the highlight to this is a new year which means new work and new goals!!!  This weekend I headed to Edwards Colorado with the boyfriend (CVO) for a fun weekend for his best buds big 4-0 roast!  WOW have I forgotten how important it is to relax and chill for a weekend!  I think I'm in love, Colorado was so beautiful, great people, great drinks and great times!  Photo from the side of the road headed on Hwy 6 from Edwards to Eagle for some thrift shopping!!!  Now driving home in a blizzard on 1-80 was not fun....finally turned into my grandmother and sucked air every time I saw break lights or passed a simi, can't make fun of her while I'm freaking her out with my driving anymore, damn!!!  CVO is an amazing driver and keep me calm, warm and safe...thanks luv!

Since it is a new year I have a new focus, to have more fun with my work!  The best way I create is when I do what I do, time to step up and do what I do!  This is a wall hanging I made for a commission Christmas present, made of steel, bronze, brass, silver nickel.  For the new year I am adding a few new elements to my work, fur, leather, more PVC, steel and bronze, along with many many more.  I live in a bike house so there are all sorts of items floating around the house that I'm ganna start to incorporate into my jewelry and wall pieces.  The direction, same as always, post-apocalyptic, edgy, industrial and down right raw.

Also for this year is the craziness of applying to shows!  I have a few applications in but have to redo my booth!  Looks like I'm headed to the hardware store, bring on the budgie cords, pvc, plywood, bolts and much much more fun!  I'll post the crazy creative process of revamping the booth, will be very creative and may not go as planned but thats the fun of it all!  CVO think I may need help!!!  Happy New Year all and bring it on 2011, let's kick some serious ass this year!!!

Tis the season!!!

I know everyone is super crazy this week, how come it's never picture perfect like the good ol' times like in the 1950's?  I think they were putting on a show as well....too many presents to buy/make/re-gift, then wrap it so nicely with festive paper, watch out for paper cuts...those buggers can hurt sometimes more than hitting your finger with a chasing hammer!!!!  And don't forget the bow!!!!   Ohh crap did you remember a present for your Uncle Bob???  Back to the store or studio or closet for one more gift!!!  Now onto the eggnog, fudge, sugar cookies, cheese ball, pumpkin pie, mash potatoes, ham, cracker salad, cranberry salad, jell-o salad, Waldorf salad...damn how many salads do we need!!!!  Now make sure the house is clean the sheets are washed and the decorations are all in place....Oh no did I remember postage on those last few online orders for the business....where the hell is the bourbon!!! I feel your pain, stop by the studio and vent your xmas bah humbugness with me, I'm here Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11am-2pm  (1416 O Street Upper level).....
